(San Francisco, CA | May 30, 2014) Fandor is proud to announce the U.S. streaming debut ofBURNING BUSH to take place day-and-date with the film’s theatrical debut on Wednesday, June 11th, 2014BURNING BUSH is an ambitious cinematic recreation of widespread student protests (and their aftermath) against Soviet military occupation in the late 60s in Czechoslovakia. The film will play theatrically at Film Forum (New York City) with streaming available on Fandor throughout the U.S., excepting the NY metropolitan area.

“Connecting the world’s greatest filmmakers and their art with the audiences that crave to see them is Fandor’s mission,” said Fandor CEO, Ted Hope. “We are thrilled to bring this film to a wide, national audience.”

With a focus on a young man’s ultimate sacrifice (history student Jan Palach committed suicide by self-immolation, as a form of political protest) and on the state’s attempt to defame him, BURNING BUSH offers a stirring and multi-faceted picture of a pivotal moment in Eastern European history; these events ultimately set the stage for the defeat of Communism 20 years later.

Through the story of the brave defense attorney Dagmar Burešová, who defended Palach’s legacy in a doomed lawsuit, the film examines the transformations taking place in Czechoslovak society after the invasion of the armies of the Warsaw Pact in August of 1968 – and the installation of a hardline Communist government. It depicts the beginnings of Czech and Slovak resistance against the occupation, which reached its apex with the mass protests during Palach’s funeral – also showing the nation’s gradual resignation under the pressure of fear and harsher persecution.

Directed by acclaimed Polish director Agnieszka Holland (EUROPA, EUROPA), who was a student at the FAMU film school in Prague during this tumultuous period.BURNING BUSH initially broadcast on television in the Czech Republic and later screened at the International Film Festival Rotterdam, the Telluride Film Festival, and the Toronto International Film Festival where it was received to both audience and critical acclaim.

"Agnieszka Holland is an extraordinarily gifted and versatile filmmaker," stated Jonathan Marlow, Fandor's Chief Content Officer. "Though the events depicted in BURNING BUSH occurred forty-five years ago, the issues it explores are entirely relevant today."

Long commended for her politically engaged work as a director and screenwriter, Agnieszka Holland emerged from the Polish New Wave of the 1970s and ’80s after working on scripts with fellow Polish director Andrzej Wajda. Her films have been nominated for three Academy Awards: EUROPA, EUROPA (1990) was nominated for Best Screenplay (and won the Golden Globe for Best Foreign Film), and ANGRY HARVEST (1985) and IN DARKNESS (2011) were nominated for Best Foreign Language Film. She has directed episodes of the acclaimed television series THE KILLING, TREME, and THE WIRE, making her a natural choice for the Czech production and writing team for their HBO Europe production of BURNING BUSH. She recently completed the NBC miniseries, ROSEMARY’S BABY.

BURNING BUSH will become available on Wednesday, June 11th. For information about Fandor please visit www.Fandor.com.

The deal for the film was negotiated between Kino Lorber CEO Richard Lorber and Fandor’s CCO Jonathan Marlow and CEO Ted Hope.

WILLOW CREEK - EW Trailer & Poster Debut Watch the trailer!

In Theaters and On Demand June 6th

WILLOW CREEK - In Theaters & On Demand June 6th
----------------------------
Written & Directed by: Bobcat Goldthwait
----------------------------
Starring: Alexie Gilmore (God Bless America) & Bryce Johnson ("Pretty Little Liars")
----------------------------
Synopsis
Described by Jimmy Kimmel as "Scary and the Hendersons" and by writer-director Bobcat Goldthwait himself as "The Blair-Squatch Project," found footage movie Willow Creek is a radical departure in Goldthwait's career after directing a string of black comedies (World's Greatest Dad, God Bless America). In the great American tradition of people venturing into the woods and encountering absolutely pants-wetting terror, what starts as two dorks with a video camera having a lark in a national park metastasizes into something much deeper, darker, and queasier.

Set in Humboldt County, California, Willow Creek centers on Jim (Bryce Johnson, Pretty Little Liars) a Bigfoot believer whose idea of a romantic getaway is to head deep into Six Rivers National Forest in Northern California, video camera in tow, trying to shoot his own Bigfoot footage at the site of the Patterson-Gimlin film. That 1967 fragment of footage purporting to show Sasquatch striding along a dry riverbed became a key artifact in the cryptozoology community, and Jim dreams of nothing more than setting foot on the actual location where it was shot. His long-suffering girlfriend, Kelly (Alexie Gilmore, World's Greatest Dad), agrees to tag along for the ride, despite the fact that she thinks Bigfoot has about as much chance of being real as leprechauns.

The two stop off first in Willow Creek, the Bigfoot capital of the world and home to an annual Bigfoot festival, where various locals talk to Jim's camera, warning them to keep out of the woods, singing ballads about Bigfoot, and generally enjoying their 15 minutes in the spotlight while Jim and Kelly have a blast, cracking wise amidst all the touristy Bigfoot kitsch on display. But when they strap on packs and head into the forest via a two-hour drive down a dirt road, they start to feel like they might be in over their heads. Well, Kelly does, at least. Jim, as he approaches what he considers hallowed ground, is in heaven.

That night they're awakened by mysterious sounds echoing through the woods, and whooping vocalizations that might be Bigfoot, but that might also be locals screwing with them. Either way, they're not welcome here and so Jim and Kelly decide to get out come sun-up but, as they quickly discover, it might already be too late, and as the sun goes down for the second time and they find themselves retracing the steps of Roger Patterson and Bob Gimlin they discover the truth behind Bigfoot and the disturbing meaning of the term "forest bride."

Jurassic World News!

If the 2000s were about the resurrection of the zombie horror film, the 2010s returns the big monster picture.

Colin Trevorrow is clearing up some questions in a new interview withSlashfilm regarding talk of Isla Nublar working theme park, and of a war "between good and evil dinosaurs".

Trevorrow says "We're trying to tell a bold new story that doesn't rely on a proven formula, because the movies we watch over and over again are the ones that surprised us, that worked when they shouldn't have. Jurassic World takes place in a fully functional park on Isla Nublar. It sees more than 20,000 visitors every day. You arrive by ferry from Costa Rica. It has elements of a biological preserve, a safari, a zoo, and a theme park. There is a luxury resort with hotels, restaurants, nightlife and a golf course. And there are dinosaurs. Real ones. You can get closer to them than you ever imagined possible. It's the realization of John Hammond's dream, and I think you'll want to go there. This film picks up twenty-two years after Jurassic Park. When Derek [Connolly] and I sat down to find the movie, we looked at the past two decades and talked about what we’ve seen. Two things came to the surface. One was that money has been the gasoline in the engine of our biggest mistakes. If there are billions to be made, no one can resist them, even if they know things could end horribly. The other was that our relationship with technology has become so woven into our daily lives, we’ve become numb to the scientific miracles around us. We take so much for granted. Those two ideas felt like they could work together. What if, despite previous disasters, they built a new biological preserve where you could see dinosaurs walk the earth…and what if people were already kind of over it? We imagined a teenager texting his girlfriend with his back to a T-Rex behind protective glass. For us, that image captured the way much of the audience feels about the movies themselves. “We’ve seen CG dinosaurs. What else you got?” Next year, you’ll see our answer. There will be one new dinosaur created by the park's geneticists. The gaps in her sequence were filled with DNA from other species, much like the genome in the first film was completed with frog DNA. This creation exists to fulfill a corporate mandate-they want something bigger, louder, with more teeth. And that's what they get. I know the idea of a modified dinosaur put a lot of fans on red alert, and I understand it. But we aren't doing anything here that Crichton didn't suggest in his novels. This animal is not a mutant freak. It doesn't have a snake's head or octopus tentacles. It's a dinosaur, created in the same way the others were, but now the genetics have gone to the next level. For me, it's a natural evolution of the technology introduced in the first film. Maybe it sounds crazy, but most of my favorite movies sound crazy when you describe them in a single sentence."

Reinvent Hollywood With Fandor!

FANDOR & REINVENTORS JOIN UP FOR SERIES

“REINVENT HOLLYWOOD”

The Six-Part Series Seeks to Address the Future of Film

Hosted by Ted Hope, Fandor CEO

Episode 1 To Launch on May 28th, 2014, 11AM PT

If you could redesign the film industry into the best possible system for the artists, the audience, and the business, what would it look like?

SAN FRANCISCO – (MAY 27, 2014): On May 28th, Ted Hope, CEO of Fandor, along with Reinventors, and a group of industry luminaries, will answer that very question in the six-part interactive web series “Reinvent Hollywood.”

With the advent of low-cost digital production and post-production technology, the tools to create and distribute both short and long-form filmed entertainment have never been more accessible, and yet the Hollywood power structure continues to rely on an antiquated methodology of finding and presenting this entertainment to the world.

But what does this mean for the status quo in the film industry? How can those interested parties, the artists and the audiences, work with the distributors and the rest of the existing power structure to affect these changes and create a bigger tent, helping the industry as a whole move forward? That’s what Reinvent Hollywood will answer.

“Art, regardless of the medium, has always been advanced by the audience, creators, and technology – far more than business or the market can,” said Hope. “Fandor’s mission is to help build the world’s film community through the advancement and preservation of film art and culture. When good movies go unseen, talented filmmakers cannot support themselves and our government is not defending Net Neutrality, it is time to demand change.”

Hope and a team of industry experts will discuss the state of the film industry throughout this six-part series streamed live onReinventors.net. A recording of each episode will be available the following day onFandor.com. Each 90-minute session is edited into a recap and a short trailer, and write-ups of what was accomplished will be available on the series’ landing page after each roundtable.

The series is divided into six episodes, with each part focused on a topic that addresses the larger issue at hand – the future of film. The topics for each of the six episodes are: The FormThe ArtistsThe AudienceThe Business,The Festivals, Schools, and Non-Profits, and The Rules of the Game.

The first topic to be discussed in-depth and to kick off the series is “The Form,” which is focused on what will follow as feature film loses its dominant position with transitions from theatrical to online play, long to short form, celluloid to digital. Anchoring this conversation will be Webby Awards founder and The International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences co-founder,Tiffany Shlain.

Hosted by award-winning independent producer and film industry advocate, Ted Hope, the lineup of experts participating in the first roundtable on The Form is:

Liz Rosenthal, Founder & CEO of Power to the Pixel

Karim Ahmad, Senior Digital Content Strategist at ITVS

Lance Weiler, Writer, Director, Experience Designer

Michel Reilhac, Story architect, experience designer

Peter Leyden, Founder of Reinventors

Fandor and Reinventors are also asking you to do your part as the audience. For each episode, Hope will be joined not only by a team of experts in the field, but also by you, the general public. You can join the conversation for each episode via Google Hangout, along with Hope and his ever-growing list of industry experts as we all collectively move Hollywood forward. The episodes will also be available indefinitely online for those that miss it live.

A full calendar of the series’ live events can be found here:http://reinventors.net/series/reinvent-hollywood
