Tom Noonan and Emily Hampshire Join the Cast of the Time-Travel Thriller From Universal Cable Productions and Atlas Entertainment


NEW YORK – July 29, 2014 – Syfy’sadventure thriller, 12 Monkeys will commence series production August 6 in Toronto, Canada.   The season, consisting of 13 episodes, stars Aaron Stanford (as time-traveler Cole), Amanda Schull (Dr. Cassandra Railly), Kirk Acevedo (Ramse) and Noah Bean (Aaron Marker).


Syfy also confirms additional casting, inking Tom Noonan (Damages, Hell on Wheels) and Emily Hampshire (Rookie Blue) for recurring roles.


Noonan portrays a mysterious villain who is the face of the enigmatic Army of the 12 Monkeys.  Imposing and intelligent, Noonan’s character will be at the center of the conspiracy.  A Yale alumnus and former professor, Noonan is known for his edgy roles, most notably as the “Tooth Fairy” serial killer in the popular Michael Mann film, Manhunter. Noonan is represented by Vanguard Management and AKA Talent Agency. 


Hampshire will portray Jennifer Goines, a dangerous, unstable mental patient who might have the key to unraveling the mystery of the 12 Monkeys locked away in her head. Canadian actress Hampshire has starred in Cosmpolis and will next be seen in the CBC series Schitt’s Creek alongside Eugene Levy and Catherine O’Hara. Hampshire is represented by Intellectual Artists Management and Creative Drive Artists.


Atlas Entertainment’s Charles Roven (American Hustle, Man of Steel, The Dark Knight Trilogy) and Richard Suckle (American Hustle, The International), will executive produce. Roven served as producer on the original film. Jake Kurily will serve as Atlas’s executive on the series. Natalie Chaidez (In Plain Sight, V, Heroes) is the executive producer/showrunner and Terry Matalas & Travis Fickett (Nikita), who co-wrote the pilot, will serve as Co-Executive Producers.  Jake Kurily will serve as Atlas’s executive on the series. 12 Monkeys is produced by Atlas Entertainment, with Universal Cable Productions.


Inspired by the classic blockbuster film, 12 Monkeys explores the provocative story of Cole (Stanford), a time traveler from a decimated future in a high-stakes race against the clock. Utilizing a dangerous and untested method of time travel, he journeys from 2043 to the present day on a mission to locate and eradicate the source of a deadly plague that will all but annihilate the human race. The series will explore the themes of fate, destiny, love and the possibility of second chances

Kino Lorber Takes North American Rights to Alex & Andrew Smith's WINTER IN THE BLOOD

NEW YORK, NY (JULY 29, 2014) – Kino Lorber announced today that the company is acquiring North American rights to WINTER IN THE BLOOD, from directors Alex Smith and Andrew Smith (THE SLAUGHTER RULE).  The film, which is based on the landmark novel by James Welch, features Chaske Spencer (TWILIGHT SAGA), David Morse (THE HURT LOCKER, WORLD WAR Z), and Julia Jones (TWILIGHT SAGA). The film had its World Premiere in Narrative Competition at the Los Angeles Film Festival and has won several awards and played at over thirty film festivals. WINTER IN THE BLOOD will open theatrically at IFC Center, New Yorkon August 20th with filmmakers and key cast members in attendance. Los Angeles screenings and additional markets will follow in September.

WINTER IN THE BLOOD follows Virgil First Raise (Chaske Spencer) who wakes in a ditch on the Northern plains of Montana, hungover and badly beaten. He returns to his ranch on the reservation, only to find that his wife, Agnes, (Julia Jones) has left him. Worse, she's taken his beloved rifle. Virgil sets out to town find her, beginning a hi-line odyssey of inebriated and possibly imagined intrigues in town with the mysterious 'Airplane Man,' (David Morse) a beautiful barmaid (Dana Wheeler-Nicholson), and two dangerous Men in Suits. Are they real? Or spirits tricking him from his true path? Virgil's quest brings him face-to-face with childhood memories of his beloved, lost brother, Mose.

WINTER IN THE BLOOD authentically portrays the lost world of the “True West” with its sweeping shots of untouched prairie, remote towns, and mountain terrain. The film unfolds like a poem, capturing the novel’s dreamscape of memory, trauma, and motion with breathtaking cinematography and design.

WINTER IN THE BLOOD was shot entirely in Montana on locations closely associated with Welch and is adapted for film by Alex and Andrew Smith, who knew the author, and Ken White. This is the Smith brothers second film collaboration as writer/directors and second time working with David Morse, following 2002’s award-winning THE SLAUGHTER RULE, starring Ryan Gosling, Clea Duvall, and Amy Adams.

WINTER IN THE BLOOD features a score composed by renowned Austin band, HEARTLESS BASTARDS and new songs by ROBERT PLANT, BLACK PRAIRIE, CASS MCCOMBS and several other artists.

WINTER IN THE BLOOD is a Ranchwater Films Production. Producers include Susan Kirr, noted Native American author Sherman Alexie, Heather Rae, Jason Miller and Peter Wiley. The cast is comprised of Chaske Spencer (TWILIGHT SAGA), David Morse (THE HURT LOCKER), Julia Jones (TWILIGHT SAGA), Dana Wheeler-Nicholson (FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS), Gary Farmer (SMOKE SIGNALS), Saginaw Grant (THE LONE RANGER) and new-comer Lily Gladstone.

The deal for the film was negotiated by Susan Kirr, Alex Smith and Andrew Smith of Ranchwater Films and Elizabeth Sheldon, Senior Vice-President of Kino Lorber.

Guy Pearce And Robert Pattinson Star In The Rover Arriving On Blu-ray, DVD, And Digital HD September 23 From Lionsgate Home Entertainment

FOX TV Selects SENDUS Platform for Gotham Fan Contest

Calling all Fans of The Hobbit Movies and Middle-earth

San Diego, CA, Jul 28, 2014 - New Zealand is about to become the talk of fantasy enthusiasts around the world, with the call going out globally to find fans eager to take an ultimate Middle-earth journey to New Zealand.

Gearing up for the December 17, 2014, release of The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, Tourism New Zealand and Air New Zealand, in conjunction with New Line Cinema, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures and Warner Bros. Pictures, just announced The Hobbit Fan Fellowship Contest before 6,500 fans at Comic-Con International, an entertainment and comic convention in San Diego.

The contest will decide 75 lucky winners who can each take a friend to New Zealand flying with Air New Zealand, the airline to Middle-earth. They will spend a week journeying to famous filming locations and tourist hotspots throughout New Zealand, culminating in the ultimate experience for every Hobbit fan – a private screening of the final film with Sir Peter Jackson himself.

Fans were invited to enter in a personal video from Sir Peter. The first two winners were chosen from the Comic-Con crowd – Kris McMeans, 25, from Austin, TX and Morgan Burgener, 18, from San Diego, CA.

McMeans, who was in line overnight to get into the Hall H panel, said she has wanted to go to New Zealand for years. “This is going to be one of the most amazing experiences of my life. Ever since I was 12 years old I wanted to go to Middle-earth, and now New Zealand has become Middle-earth. Thanks to Peter Jackson bringing the books to life, now we can travel Middle-earth.”

Contest winners will land in Auckland, the “City of Sails”, rated the third most liveable city in the world, before embarking on a specially designed itinerary to recognizable ‘filmscapes’ –the highlight being a special visit to Hobbiton, the famous movie set at the heart of both The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit Trilogies.

Now New Zealand’s fastest growing tourist attraction, Hobbiton is nestled in a working sheep farm near the small town of Matamata in the Waikato region.  Fans will enjoy a private tour through the 12-acre site, with a close-up look at the 44 Hobbit homes.

Everything you have heard is true. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is the best movie of the summer so far. Maybe even the year.

I forgot to mention this yesterday, but I finally saw Dawn of the Planet of the Apes last night and every positive thing I have read or heard is true. It's the best summer movie yet. It deserves lots of awards. Andy Serkis deserves an Oscar. In fact they should make a category for motion capture performance because that requires talent too and we will see more of it in the future soon. Anyway, everything good you heard is true. Among the highlights of the festival is the world premiere of "Wisdom to Know The Difference" which was directed by Massapequa, Long Island NY's own Daniel Baldwin and stars his brother William Baldwin, Lou Diamond Phillips and others. This exciting screening will take place at Madison Theatre at Molloy College, 1000 Hempstead Ave. Rockville Centre, Long Island NY as part of our opening ceremonies on Wednesday July 30th and will feature an exclusive Q & A  with Daniel Baldwin and his cast and crew after the film.

Then, on Friday August 1st come party in the sand at the Allegria Hotel, 80 West Broadway in Long Beach, Long Island NY and enjoy the beautiful atmosphere provided by the Long Beach Boardwalk and the Atlantic Ocean. Experience FREE short films and music side by side with celebrities and filmmakers on the red carpet during the "Shorts on the Beach" Film Series. Enjoy musical performances by Cass Dillon, Ben Metzger, Joe Horowitz, and Ruff Stuff as Jamaica Tourism creates a "Little Jamaica" on the beach for the festival goers.

Features, shorts, documentaries and more will also be screening at the beautiful, newly renovated Madison Theatre at Molloy College in Rockville Centre on Saturday August 2nd and Sunday August 3rd. 

Additionally, their awards gala will also take place at Madison Theatre; where comedian Chris Monte (from Mall Cop 2 and other films) will perform selections from his Off-Broadway play, "Shut Up Sit Down and Eat", hosted by legendary long Island comedian Joey Kola, on Monday August 4th.

New Seasons Ordered for Five Original Cartoon Network Studios Comedies 

Today and tomorrow at Comic-Con® International: San Diego 2014 Cartoon Network will host jam-packed panels for all their hit original comedy animated series.  Amongst the surprises and hilarity of Comic-Con and coming on the heels of ratings and critical success around the world, the Network will announce Season 7 of the Emmy®-winning Adventure Time, Season 7 of the Emmy®-winning Regular Show, Season 2 of the Emmy®-winning Uncle Grandpa, Season 2 of Steven Universe and 13 more half hours of ClarenceRegular Show, Uncle Grandpa, Steven Universeand Clarence originate from the prolific artist-driven Cartoon Network Shorts Program at Cartoon Network Studios.

What time is it?  Just nominated for a 2014 Primetime Emmy® Cartoon Network is happy to announce that pop cultural phenomenon Adventure Time will be back for a seventh season.  New episode premieres from Adventure Time’s Season 6-to-date have averaged almost 2.9 million Persons age 2+, nearly 1.4 million kids 2-11 and more than 1.0 million kids 6-11.  Adventure Time’s unlikely heroes Finn and Jake are buddies who traverse the mystical Land of Ooo and encounter its colorful inhabitants. Adventure Time is created by Pendleton Ward and is produced at Cartoon Network Studios.  Currently in Season 6, Adventure Time airs Thursdays at 7:00 p.m. (ET/ PT).

Regular Show, also nominated for a 2014 Primetime Emmy® has been greenlit for Season 7. Regular Show’s Season 5 new episode premieres to-date have averaged nearly 2.5 million Persons 2+, almost 1.2 million kids 2-11 and 909,000 kids 6-1.  Created by JG Quintel and produced by Cartoon Network Studios, Regular Show features best friends and groundskeepers, Mordecai, a six-foot-tall blue jay and Rigby, a hyperactive raccoon who spend their days trying to entertain themselves by any means necessary.  Their everyday pursuits often lead to things spiraling out of control and into the surreal.  Regular Show currently airs Thursdays at 7:30 p.m. (ET/ PT).  Season six of Regular Showwill premiere this fall on Cartoon Network.

It's been a “Good Morning” for Uncle Grandpa!  Season 2 of the Emmy®-winning show (recently announced individual achievement winner Nick Edwards for Character Design) has been greenlit.  All new episodes of Uncle Grandpawill commence Thursday, August 21 at 7:30 p.m. (ET/ PT).  The new episodes will also feature great guest stars, including hip hop legend Tone Loc, wrestling icon Ric Flair and comedian Ken Marino.  Uncle Grandpa debuted in September 2013 and quickly became a ratings success.  Ranked #1 on Mondays among kids 6-11 and boys 2-11 & 6-11, and #1 in its 8 p.m. timeslot among all key kids and boys.  Across first quarter 2014,Uncle Grandpa claimed the #1 program on Tuesdays among boys 6-11.  Uncle Grandpa is created by Pete Browngardt with Audie Harrison (The Golden Compass) serving as creative director.
