STAR WARS: EPISODE IX CAST ANNOUNCED

STAR WARS: EPISODE IX CAST ANNOUNCED

RETURNING AND NEW CAST MEMBERS WILL JOIN TOGETHER FOR THE FINAL INSTALLMENT OF THE SKYWALKER SAGA.

Star Wars: Episode IX will begin filming at London’s Pinewood Studios on August 1, 2018. J.J. Abrams returns to direct the final installment of the Skywalker saga. Abrams co-wrote the screenplay with Chris Terrio.

Returning cast members include Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Kelly Marie Tran, Joonas Suotamo, and Billie Lourd. Joining the cast of Episode IX are Naomi Ackie, Richard E. Grant, and Keri Russell, who will be joined by veteran Star Wars actors Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, and Billy Dee Williams, who will reprise his role as Lando Calrissian.

The role of Leia Organa will once again be played by Carrie Fisher, using previously unreleased footage shot for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. “We desperately loved Carrie Fisher,” says Abrams. “Finding a truly satisfying conclusion to the Skywalker saga without her eluded us. We were never going to recast, or use a CG character. With the support and blessing from her daughter, Billie, we have found a way to honor Carrie’s legacy and role as Leia in Episode IX by using unseen footage we shot together in Episode VII.”

Composer John Williams, who has scored every chapter in the Star Wars saga since 1977’s A New Hope, will return to a galaxy far, far away with Episode IX.

Star Wars: Episode IX will be produced by Kathleen Kennedy, J.J. Abrams, and Michelle Rejwan, and executive produced by Callum Greene and Jason McGatlin. The crew includes Dan Mindel (Director of Photography), Rick Carter and Kevin Jenkins (Co-Production Designers), Michael Kaplan (Costume Designer), Neal Scanlan (Creature and Droid FX), Maryann Brandon and Stefan Grube (Editors), Roger Guyett (VFX Supervisor), Tommy Gormley (1st AD), and Victoria Mahoney (2nd Unit Director).

Release is scheduled for December 2019.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi - Bomber Command and Star Wars: The Last Jedi - Rose Tico: Resistance Fighter Combined Book Review

Publisher Fun Studios International, the folks that brought out the young adult hardcover Star Wars: Forces Of Destiny - Tales Of Hope & Courage. Have released two beautiful hardcover companion young adult books, which are also suitable for fans of all ages entitled Star Wars: The Last Jedi - Bomber Command while the companion book is entitled Star Wars: The Last Jedi - Rose Tico: Resistance Fighter. Both are written by Jason Fry. Bomber Command is a journal of Paige Tico, Pilot and Technician for Cobalt Squadron. The book covers Paige’s journey going back to her youth with her sister Rose to her role as a bomber at the Battle of D’qar. The book is beautifully illustrated with detailed sketches that look as though they were literally created by the character herself and eight large gatefolds containing bomber schematics, a look at the Y-Wing Starfighter, Confederacy Hyena BomberImperial Tie Bomber as well as the Resistance Bomber type seen in the films. There also some cool manual covers written in the Star Wars galactic language with short English translations that help this journal to appear more authentic as something that really existed along time ago in a galaxy far, far away. Also included is a galactic map fold out of what is now considered First Order Space and even a recruitment brochure excerpt. The text appears as though it was all handwritten and translated into English.

Rose Tico: Resistance Fighter follow Rose’s feelings of living in her Sister’s shadow, while still committing herself as a dedicated member of the Resistance. Detailing the ways in which finds life-saving solutions to protect those she serves leading up her collaboration with Finn, which solidifies her vision and hope for the future. Both books are very similar though Rose’s seems more personalized kind of like a diary and her penmanship seems neater than her older Sister’s. sketched and diagrams reminiscent of the other book are also featured here.

Both Star Wars: The Last Jedi - Bomber Command and Star Wars: The Last Jedi - Rose Tico: Resistance Fighter are available now at retailers on and offline for the suggested retail price of $11.99 in the U.S. and $1599 in Canada courtesy of Publisher Fun Studios International. Buy them both. They make a great set and May The Force Be With You Always.

My Fake News Experiment.

I wanted to test something after seeing a video online where a media analyst named Mark Dice did a man on the street interview telling people the word gullible was being removed from American dictionaries to save paper and make room for new words since "gullible" was not in use anymore in contemporary society.

What struck me about this bit Mr. Dice did was how the people he chose were very introspective and against the removal of the word gullible from the dictionary rather than being passive about it. Mr. Dice would smirk between takes, but this video was a throwback to an earlier time when he recorded it and maybe it seemed funny to those who watched it then, but for me I was not convinced whether or not these people were truly gullible.

So I wondered what would happen if I made up two pieces of fake news on my own and endeavored make it as believable as possible based on variants on real things that have been on the news for years.

My goal was not to make people feel stupid or hurt and I certainly did not want to start something that could have bad consequences for anyone, including myself, which is why I decided to reveal it now and not allow my fake news stories to get a mind of their own.

For my friends in the UK and Australia, I posted this:

Due to the global refugee and migrant crisis, the UN is meeting to pass a proposal for large urban areas to bag their feces in state provided biodegradable zip lock bags and deposit them in brown scented contractor reciprocals to be collected by special sanitation teams and used for landfills so they can accommodate more immigrants globally. The process was perfected in China and is being implemented in the European Union.

For Americans I tried this:

Congress is passing a bill to cut down on noise pollution by taxing everyone based on how many words they speak using algorithms provided by social media so they can accurately measure the noise pollution one creates and tax people based on the quality of words used.

I am still seeing how many British or Australians fell for my fake news, but in America, I got a few.

As I noted above, I am kind of afraid to actually try this with many people because I fear the consequences it could cause, but it has been an interesting sociological experiment given our divided and sensitive times. So for those of you who read my Facebook posts or direct messages that believed what I wrote was true, relax it was fake.

Based on what I have learned I would say people are passionate, introspective and skeptical, but not gullible. This is not to lay shade on Dice's man on the street interviews. What he does take courage and I give him credit for that. However if you tie a fake story as close to the truth as possible so people can extrapolate on it, they might believe it or even get triggered. The last thing we need is that so for those of you who believed me, I apologize. This was a one time experiment and anyone can be fooled into believing something that is fabricated is real and it happens a lot and I am vulnerable to it too. It does show that when it comes to larger issues and even things that appear small and insignificant, they all deserve to be scrutinized before you take it as real no matter the source you get it from. Thank you all for being good sports and stay vigilant.

SDCC 2018: STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS TO RETURN WITH NEW EPISODES

Please note that the information I have published below was not written by me and I have no copyright or ownership of this whatsoever. The is the property of Disney and Lucasfilm. The author is Dan Brooks. Thank you.

Just announced by Dave Filoni at San Diego Comic-Con during a 10th anniversary celebration of the beloved animated series, Star Wars: The Clone Wars will be returning with 12 all-new episodes on Disney’s direct-to-consumer streaming service. Created by George Lucas, the show first aired in 2008 and became an entry point into Star Wars for an entire generation, following fan-favorites like Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Padmé Amidala, while introducing major new characters like Jedi Padawan Ahsoka Tano and Captain Rex. Its stories were complex, its heroes and villains were perfectly imperfect, and its look was captivatingly beautiful. It became a multi-Emmy winner and is now regarded as essential Star Wars.

But it was never finished. The Clone Warsended after five broadcast seasons — just as Ahsoka left the Jedi Order. A few post-Season Five episodes were later released as “The Lost Missions,” but the story wasn’t over. Fans have clamored for Disney and Lucasfilm to finish what was started ever since. And now it’s actually happening.

StarWars.com recently caught up with Filoni, supervising director and shepherd of the series, to discuss the shocking return of The Clone Wars. You can also check out the trailer above, which debuted at the panel, and a striking new poster below.

StarWars.com: Did you ever think this would be possible? That we’d get here?

Dave Filoni: No. I didn’t, I really didn’t.

StarWars.com: What can you say about the fans’ enthusiasm over the years and, really, their role in making this happen?

Dave Filoni: Well, thankfully, their enthusiasm is relentless. Their love of these characters and stories hasn’t diminished. I actually think their voice has gotten louder as the years have gone by. It’s been very humbling to have their support and to have people continue to hashtag me, “#SaveTheCloneWars.”

StarWars.com: To you personally, what does it mean to get to finish it?

Dave Filoni: Personally, it’s very rewarding. Any opportunity to put the final pieces of the story in place is meaningful as a storyteller. I’m happy for the opportunity to define these things and the end of this part of the Clone War. It also makes me reflect on all the people that I got to work with over the years. It reinforces the things I learned from George. It reminds me of the important elements that go into making Star Wars. So, it’s nice on several levels, and I think for the crew that’s still here that worked on Clone Wars, they feel that, as well.

StarWars.com: What do you think it is, 10 years later now, that made this show resonate so much with people, and made it stick with them, and gave it the strength to come back?

Dave Filoni: I think the variety of stories was a big part of it. You also can’t underestimate how important it was that so many people grew up with the show. Clone Wars was a piece of Star Wars that older fans might have, initially, not taken seriously because it was animated, but that wasn’t a barrier for kids. They loved the clones and identified with them. Ahsoka gave kids a character that was like them — someone their age that was experiencing life’s challenges and learning along the way. Plus, having a new episode each week really allowed us to explore what was going on with the new and legacy characters in a dynamic way, including Anakin and Obi-Wan. I think the stories left an indelible impression and, of course, George knew it would. He always knew.

The Quad announces Bob Fosse retrospective "Performance Anxieties," Aug 3-9

Choreographer, actor, writer, director: Bob Fosse wore many hats—aside from the bowler that became his trademark. A live wire who galvanized musical theatre and movies alike, he won nine Tonys, three Emmys, and one Oscar—the latter for Best Director (Cabaret). The Chicago native attended dance school as a teenager and staged numbers at the burlesque houses where he emceed. Debuting on the Great White Way in January 1950, Fosse also performed on television shows a few blocks away, and through several collaborations with Stanley Donen, quickly became the entertainment industry’s most sought-after choreographer for stage and film. The leap into the director’s chair followed—though he was never one to sit still for long—and by the 1970s he had joined the front ranks of American filmmakers. Drawing upon his own life and expanding his art without filters or limits, he guided his actors to transform physically and emotionally, yielding movies (and moves) that stun and exhilarate. So snap your fingers, roll your shoulders, and get ready to be knocked back in your seat by a man whose last name became shorthand for both dynamism and dynamo.

Remembering George A. Romero.

A year ago a man passed away. For years I argued that George Romero was an Master Filmmaker and people just shrugged it off, but I was proven right by the great resurgence he had at the tail end of his career and even got to interview him during the time when Land of the Dead was about to be released for the first time on DVD. Often copied, but never equaled and always ahead of his time as well as a true artist, I love George A. Romero and miss him, but I am thankful by the body of work he left us and it's insights that are beginning to be understood by others now. I feel very blessed to have talked to him, interviewed him and even made him laugh. George was more than a hero and filmmaker to me, he was a human being. A truly great one at that. Thank you George and thank you all. R.I.P.

Sincerely,

A Quiet Place 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray + Digital Copy Review.

John Krasinski Co-Wrote, Directed and even starred A Quiet Place, which costars his real life wife Emily Blunt, who plays his character's wife in the film too. The story is pretty straight forward in that somehow carnivorous alien creatures that are blind, but through their acute hearing hunt for prey with stealth and alacrity. A human family has adopted to a life where they are cautious not to make a sound and communicate mostly through sign language. After a tragedy that occurs at the beginning of the film, his daughter believes her father no longer loved her and feels increasingly disassociated from him as the hearing aids he makes for her don't seem to work.

Soon after the family is forced to use their survival skills individually and for each other as everything they have come to know are put to the test with deep emotional and physical stakes on the line.

A Quiet Place looks fantastic in both 4K Ultra HD and 1080p/24fps full HD with the high dynamic range of the colors that more so than any other factor makes the film more vibrant in daytime scenes and sport a somewhat inky blackness in night sequences.

The big star of the film on disc is the English Dolby ATMOS Soundtrack that creates an ever enveloping field of sound that almost evolves in quality as things develop toward the film's climax.

Both discs also features French, Spanish and Portuguese Language 5.1 Dolby Audio Tracks coupled with an English Descriptive Audio Track for the Visually Impaired as well as English Subtitles for the Deaf and Hearing Impaired and English, French, Spanish and Portuguese Language Subtitles encoded as options.

Three featurettes covering the production (14:95), Sound Editing (11:44) and visual effects (7:33) collectively they give some insight as to the nature of the creatures in the story as well as their backstory as to where the creatures came from. This was talked about off camera during preproduction, but is not made public in the featurettes or feature film itself so don't go into it expecting an answer, but at least you will know, they put thought into developing them.

An insert containing a choice of either a limited time only redeemable code for an iTunes or an Ultraviolet Digital Copy is included within the black Ultra HD BD case.

A Quiet Place 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray + Digital Copy is available now at retailers on and offline courtesy of Paramount Home Entertainment.
