For this demonstration I have tweaked the same sequence so that one evokes a slight dream like quality without losing detail while the other has a western filter attached in keeping with the original series, but darker and grittier. I have edited them down to communicate emotion so don’t expect either of these edits to be the same as the original broadcast. That is not the point of this exercise. Think of this as a sacrifice of a few to save the many and ask yourself what emotion you get from this edit in general and which do you feel tonally evokes more emotion. There are no right or wrong answers here. Only your own vision counts on this one.

Now here is a totally different kind of space battle from a different franchise. Here I evokes both color and black and white comic book filters, How does the extremes change the reality of the situation? Again this is not about right and wrong. It is about how color and tone effects the emotional impact and for that everyone is going to have a different reaction. Don’t get caught up in memories of what you saw, but examine how you feel as if you saw this sequence for the first time. Thank you.
