The Originals is the hit spinoff of The Vampire Diaries and airs on The CW, which is also the broadcast home of The Vampire Diaries. Warner Home Video has released the complete first season in a deluxe Blu-ray Disc and DVD set that contains all 22 first season episodes presented in full 1080p/24fps HD with a terrific and vibrant English DTS-HD MA 5.1 Soundtrack featured on all four season one Blu-ray Discs. Also included across five DVDs are standard definition presentations of the complete first season coupled with English Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound. These discs come housed in a thick Blue BD case with a cardboard slip case over it. Within the case are an insert containing episode and disc information for all 22 first season shows on Blu-ray and DVD as well as a limited time only redeemable Ultraviolet Digital Copy code too.
Extra value Blu-ray features include a screen specific audio commentary for the pilot with series creator Julie Plec and Director Chris Grismer. Also included are featurettes detailing the 2013 Comic Con Panel, the 2014 Paley Fest Panel, a short detailing the creative roots of the series, the series writers discussion of the blend of fact and fiction to give the series some historical context as well as a montage of character back stories and deleted scenes too.
The Originals: The Complete First Season is available on Blu-ray Disc and DVD as a Nine-Disc set at retailers on and offline courtesy of Warner Home Video.
