Once more The Handmaid's Tale has subverted my expectations and delivered two emotionally powerful and resonating episodes. First off there may be some minor spoilers in this review and I do not write spoiler reviews, but since that definition is subjective, you may want to watch the episodes first before reading this.
First off what I loved about episode 11 was the interaction between the Commander and his Wife and then they do this fantastic intercutting of scenes across three different timelines that reminded me of
The Godfather though the context is different. I think the Director and Editor would make Coppola proud and hope they win awards for their work.
Episode 12 picks up a bit of time after the events of episode 11. Not a terribly long time, but time enough to see some familiar faces I did not expect and I suppose we are meant to fill in the blanks as to what happened for now at least.
It seems to me that for every good thing that happens on
The Handmaid's Tale there is always another shoe that drops that balances things out in at times tragic ways.
There is also some intrigue regarding a Handmaid's new assignment. I can honestly state I have no idea what is going to happen, but I am looking forward to finding out. Please also note that episode 13, which is the second season finale of
The Handmaid's Tale will premiere on July 11, 2018 and like episodes 11 and 12 as well as the other originally streamed and premiered episodes before them, they will be streaming exclusively on Hulu.
