SYNOPSIS | Stanley (Charlie Hunnam) and Lion (Jack O’Connell) are two brothers struggling to stay relevant in the underground world of bare-knuckle boxing. When Stanley fails to pay back a dangerous crime boss (Jonathan Majors), they’re forced to deliver an unexpected traveler as they journey across the country for a high stakes fighting tournament. Charlie Hunnam has captured the attention of audiences and critics in both the United Kingdom and Hollywood with his versatility, talent and charisma.
For seven seasons, Hunnam starred as ‘Jax Teller’ in FX’s “Sons of Anarchy,” the highest rated drama in the network’s history. Since wrapping “Sons,” Hunnam starred in Guy Ritchie’s King Arthur: Legend of the Sword; James Gray’s Lost City of Z with Sienna Miller and Robert Pattinson; Papillon for Michael Noer, alongside Rami Malek and Eve Hewson; and Jungleland for Max Winkler, with Jack O’Connell and Jessica Barden. In 2015, Hunnam starred alongside Mia Wasikowski, Jessica Chastain, and Tom Hiddleston in Guillermo del Toro’sCrimson Peak. This was a reunion for Hunnam and del Toro who first worked together on Pacific Rim. Prior to this, Hunnam starred in Jordan Roberts’ comedy Frankie Go Boom alongside Chris O’Dowd, Lizzie Caplan and Ron Perlman; and also, in Stefan Ruzowitzky’s Deadfall with Eric Bana and Olivia Wilde. Together with Elijah Wood, Hunnam appeared in the independent film Green Street Hooligans about the violent world of soccer shenanigans. He then starred opposite Clive Owen in Alfonso Cuaron’s apocalyptic drama Children of Men.
Hunnam made his film debut in the Paramount thriller Abandon and gained attention for his performance in the title role of the big screen adaptation of Charles Dickens’ novel Nicholas Nickleby, which received a Golden Globe®nomination for “Best Picture.” He next appeared as ‘Bosie’ in the Miramax feature Cold Mountain for director Anthony Minghella based on the best-selling novel by Charles Frazier. Jack O'Connell's career has catapulted since winning the EE Rising Star Award at the 2015 BAFTA Awards and the New Hollywood Award at the 2015 Hollywood Film Awards and he has fast become one of the UK's most versatile and exciting actors.
Jack will next be seen in Benedict Andrews thriller 'Seberg', which received its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival. The story follows an ambitious young FBI agent assigned to investigate actress Jean Seberg (Kristen Stewart) when she becomes embroiled in the tumultuous civil rights movement in late 1960s Los Angeles. Zazie Beetz, Margaret Qualley and Vince Vaughn also star in the film, distributed by Amazon Studios. Forthcoming is Max Winkler's 'Jungleland', a drama concerning bare-knuckle fighter 'Lion' (O'Connell) and his manager (Charlie Hunnam) who have to travel across the country for one last fight. Jack will also lead the cast of Andrew Haigh's four-part thriller 'The North Water', which is being produced by See-Saw Films for BBC Two. Portraying 'Patrick Sumner' - a disgraced ex-army surgeon who signs up as ship's doctor on a whaling expedition to the Arctic in the late 1850s - Jack will star alongside Colin Farrell.
Also forthcoming is 'Little Fish' - a film focusing on a young married couple who fight to keep their love alive in the face of a mysterious pandemic that erases people's memories. Jack will star as 'Jude' with Olivia Cooke taking on the role of 'Emma' alongside him, with Chad Hartigan (Morris From America and This Is Martin Bonner) at the helm as director.
Spring 2019 saw Jack star alongside Laura Dern in new feature film 'Trial By Fire', a fact-based drama directed by Ed Zwick. The film is written by Academy-winning screenwriter Geoffrey Fletcher and adapted from an award-winning article in The New Yorker. Jack stars as 'Cameron Todd Willingham', a poor, uneducated heavy metal devotee with a violent streak and a criminal record. Convicted of triple homicide in the arson deaths of his three small children, Willingham spent 12 years on death row. Dern co-stars as Elizabeth Gilbert, a Texas housewife who forms an unlikely bond with Willingham and, though facing staggering odds, fights magnificently for his freedom on the basis that he was wrongly convicted.
Prior to this, Jack was seen starring alongside Sienna Miller in Tennessee Williams’ Pulitzer Prize winning play 'Cat on a Hot Tin Roof' set in the plantation home of a wealthy cotton tycoon Big Daddy Pollitt. A Young Vic production directed by Benedict Andrews, The play explored the relationships between various members of Big Daddy's family, notably between O'Connell's 'Brick' and Miller's 'Maggie'.
Following his appearance on stage, Jack starred in the original Netflix Western drama series 'Godless'. Written and directed by Scott Frank and produced with Steven Soderbergh and Casey Silver, this limited series is set in 1884 and follows 'Frank Griffin' (Jeff Daniels), the leader of a notorious gang that terrorizes towns across the West as he hunts Roy Goode (played by Jack), who was once like a son to him and is now his mortal enemy.
2017 saw O'Connell star as a Czech resistance fighter in 'The Man with the Iron Heart', alongside Jack Reynor, Mia Wasikowska, Rosamund Pike and Jason Clarke. Based on the debut novel of French author Laurent Binet, the film is directed by Cedric Jimenez and recounts 'Operation Anthropoid', the assassination of Nazi leader Reinhard Heydrich in Prague during World War II.
2016 saw Jack star in financial thriller 'Money Monster' directed by Jodie Foster. Jack starred opposite George Clooney and Julia Roberts, playing 'Kyle', an irate investor who loses everything on the stock exchange. Financial TV host Lee Gates (Clooney) and his producer Patty (Roberts) are put in an extreme situation when Kyle forcefully takes over their studio demanding answers. During a tense standoff broadcast to millions on live TV, Lee and Patty must work furiously against the clock to unravel the mystery behind a conspiracy at the heart of today's fast-paced, high-tech global markets. The film premiered at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival. Also that year, Jack received rave reviews when he returned to the stage leading the cast in Richard Bean's 'The Nap' at The Crucible Theatre in Sheffield. The play was directed by Richard Wilson and Jack played central character 'Dylan'.
In 2014, Jack took the lead role in Angelina Jolie's 'Unbroken', portraying American Olympian and World War II POW survivor Louis Zamperini. Based on the book by Laura Hillenbrand; Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience and Redemption, the film chronicles the life of the athlete who survived in a raft for 47 days after his bomber was downed and then sent to a series of Japanese prisoner of war camps.
ABOUT JESSICA BARDEN
Audiences will next see Barden star in Jungleland opposite Jack O’Connell and Charlie Hunnam for director Max Winkler. The film debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2019.
Barden delivers an incredible performance in Holler with director Nicole Riegel. The film recently debuted at the Deauville Film Festival and Toronto Film Festival to rave reviews where her performance was deemed “Jessica’s Winter Bone.” She also plays the title role in Pink Skies Ahead directed by Kelly Oxford. The movie tells the story of a wild young woman whose life unravels after dropping out of college, moving in with her parents, and being diagnosed with an anxiety disorder.
Upcoming Barden is set to resume production opposite Toni Colette in the Netflix series Pieces of Her which will likely premiere next year.
Additional credits include Barden’s portrayal of Alyssa in the breakout Channel 4 Netflix series The End of The F***Ing World which was awarded a BAFTA TV Award for Best Drama Series. Barden previously appeared in the Australian miniseries Lambs of God based on the book by Marele Day opposite Ann Dowd for director Jeffrey Walker. Barden starred in The New Romantic which won best feature at the 2018 SXSW festival for up and coming director Carly Stone as well as the Cannes Jury Prize-winning The Lobster opposite Colin Farrell and Rachel Weisz, in the memorable role of ‘Nosebleed Woman.’ Jessica also played Carey Mulligan’s loyal confidant in last year's Far From The Madding Crowd.
Barden made her U.S. television debut in the final season of Showtime’s Penny Dreadful. Previous credits include her work as ‘Kayleigh’ on the world’s longest-running soap, Coronation Street and her appearance in the BBC mini-series The Outcast, Lullaby (in which THR critic Sheri Linden called her terminal patient character’s “vulnerability fully felt”), Hanna for director Joe Wright and Tamara Drewe.

Independent Spirit and Gotham award nominee Jonathan Majors has cemented himself as the Hollywood actor to watch following his on-screen debut in 2017’s ABC miniseries “When We Rise.”
The actor can currently be seen on HBO’s straight-to-series drama "Lovecraft Country" created by Academy Award®winner Jordan Peele. He stars opposite Jurnee Smollett-Bell and the series follows Majors’ character as he road trips across 1950’s Jim Crow America. The show premiered on Sunday, August 16th and broke digital records for the network. Majors can also be seen in Spike Lee's epic war drama DA 5 BLOODS. Filmed in southeast Asia, the film also stars Chadwick Boseman, Jean Reno and Delroy Lindo and it became available on Netflix worldwide in June 2020.
Currently, Majors is in production on Jeymes Samuel’s directorial debut as outlaw Nat Love in THE HARDER THEY FALL, in which he will star opposite Idris Elba. Produced by Jay-Z, James Lassiter, Lawrence Bender and Samuel, the Netflix release will follow Majors’ character who discovers that the man who killed his parents two decades ago is being released from prison. The character then reunites with his gang to track his enemy down and seek his revenge.
Majors is also set to co-star opposite Glen Powell in Black Label Media’s DEVOTION, as directed by J.D. Dillard.The screenplay is based on Adam Makos’ bestselling book “Devotion: An Epic Story of Heroism, Friendship, and Sacrifice” and follows the true story of two elite U.S. Navy fighter pilots during the Korean war. Majors will play Jesse Brown, the first black man in U.S. Naval history to become a fighter pilot.
In February 2019, Majors received rave reviews for his performance in Joe Talbot's THE LAST BLACK MAN STANDING following its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival. For his role as “Montgomery Allen”, Majors was nominated for a Gotham Award in the category of “Breakthrough Actor” and an Independent Spirit Award for “Best Supporting Male.” The Hollywood Reporter also went on to name him as one of Hollywood’s rising young stars in its 2019 Next Gen Talent feature.

Jonathan graduated from the Yale School of Drama with an MFA in acting and was a recipient of the Lloyd Richards Scholarship and the Jerome L. Green Scholarship. A native of Dallas, Texas, and graduate of North Carolina School of the Arts, Jonathan’s extensive stage credits include productions of “Henry V,” “A Raisin in the Sun,” “The Tempest” and several plays by August Wilson, including “Fences” (director, Kenny Leon) and “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom” (director, Ruben Santiago-Hudson), both at The Greene Space. Jonathan is the winner of the 2015 National Society of Arts and Letters (NSAL) National Drama Competition.
ABOUT DIRECTOR MAX WINKLER
Max Winkler wrote and directed JUNGLELAND, which received its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival 2019. Winkler is currently adapting and will direct adventure photographer Ben Moon’s memoir Denali: A Man, A Dog, A Friendship Of A Lifetime, which will reteam Winkler with Charlie Hunnam. Winkler also directed the pilot and will executive produce “Cruel Summer”, which got a full series pickup by Freeform.
Previously, Winkler directed the feature film FLOWER, starring Zoey Deutch, Adam Scott, and Kathryn Hahn. A dark love letter to his teenage years in the Valley, FLOWER is a coming of age story that tracks the unorthodox bond between a sexually curious teen (Deutch) and her mentally unstable stepbrother. Winkler made his feature directorial debut with CEREMONY starring Uma Thurman, Michael Angarano and Lee Pace, which premiered at the 2010 Toronto International Film Festival.
Winkler also directed several episodes of Fox’s hit comedies NEW GIRL and BROOKLYN NINE-NINE as well as Netflix’s LADY DYNAMITE, and Hulu’s CASUAL. In 2013, Winkler started The Walcott Company at 20th Century Fox TV alongside NEW GIRL’S Jake Johnson, developing projects for both film and television.
With writing partner Matt Spicer, Winkler adapted and is attached to direct Mick Conefrey's THE ADVENTURER'S HANDBOOK, with Jonah Hill. The pair will also executive produce the film, alongside Hill, for Universal. Together the pair has also written THE ORNATE ANATOMY OF LIVING THINGS for Fox Searchlight, WHISPERS IN BEDLAM, and is writing the reboot of THE ROCKETEER for Disney.
A graduate of USC film school, Winkler and his schoolmates received a grant to make their short film THE KING OF CENTRAL PARK. Winkler first drew industry attention when the film was selected for several film festivals, which established him as a filmmaker to watch.
