On The Trail of Bigfoot: Last Frontier is a very compelling documentary about the search for Sasquatch in the last bastion of wilderness in America, Alaska. You will learn a lot about the environments of Alaska, which can be brutal, but also beautiful. The film is breathtakingly shot and some of the testimonies range from people who you want to believe because there just doesn’t seem to be a hint of deceptive behavior coming from them. Then there are people so elderly that their encounters appear to be more akin to dreams. It is not that they are insincere, but one almost imagines their experience of more ethereal in nature than physical, but that is my take on it and I have to respect the fact that at least some of these people certainly appeared to believe in what they are saying, but still there was one person interviewed who looked like had a Sasquatch Shop and maybe it was just a choice of location for the interview and still one has to take into consideration that Bigfoot is a tourist attraction and everything in this film does not make one suspend their disbelief enough to not br skeptical.Evidence like a large hand print on the side of a cabin give a sense of scale to the possible creature, but anything can be faked so again it is hard not to wonder if they are taking advantage of the Documentarian's interest. In the end it felt like a feature length episode of the 1990s Fox magazine show entitled Sightings. In fact I think it could work better as a one hour program since it gets slow in the middle.
There is some CGI animation of the creature here and there that serve as transitions in the stories or voice overs, but none of it looked like it added anything of note though in a program like this you have to show something because people expect it. Thankfully this is a legitimate documentary. Decide for yourself.
