Clint Eastwood: The Iconic Filmmaker And His Work Book Review

Clint Eastwood: The Iconic Filmmaker And His Work by Ian Nathan is an exhaustive, but never exhausting look into a legend who at the time of this posting still lives among us and I hope he always will because Clint Eastwood transcends everything we have come to expect from a Hollywood leading man. Not only was he a successful television actor and a frequent guest star on both the big and small screens, but Mr. Eastwood became a leading man and international movie star in a variety of films that in include, but are not limited to, The Man With No Name Trilogy. The Dirty Harry Qunitology the comedies Every Which Way But Loose and Any Which Way You Can and an amazing plethora of other works that he’s directed in so many genres whether he’s in the film or not in the film and these include of course his two best picture Oscar winning films Unforgiven and Million Dollar Baby. His two World War II, epic films, entitled Sands of Iwo Jima and Flags of Our Fathers showcasing the Pacific War from both the Japanese and the American sides were produced with the extraordinary Steven Spielberg at his side as well as some of his more recent hit films like Grand Torino and the list goes on because Clint Eastwood is more than just a filmmaker. He’s more than just a Director. He’s more than just the only other true Hollywood icon that is perhaps most associated with the western genre outside of John Wayne. Eastwood has also been a politician and he has children that are acting in their own movies whether it be his daughter appearing in David Lynch’s and Mark Frost’s, Twin Peaks, The Return on Showtime back in 2017 or his son, appearing in the original Suicide Squad film that was a part of the now defunct DCEU though his son Scott’s performance has nothing to do with the ultimate fate of that franchise. Both his son and daughter and other family members have already proven to have talent and charisma similar to their father and that’s a rare thing indeed.

The book focuses on Eastwoods career from the early films through the Spaghetti Westerns, and then the other westerns that he would produce of the 70s, and as well as so many of his works, including the Dirty Harry series, and other movies that transcend any genre that he had been involved with prior to directing them like Bird. The book itself is printed on nice quality paper stock and comes in a beautiful slipcase with a nice premium feeling hardcover and back cover that matches the slipcase art perfectly. In addition, this book is indexed in a way so that it’s easy for a person to look up anything almost like a reference book, but even though it doesn’t feel like as such, which I think is to its advantage because you’re not only getting a look at the man that’s objective, but you’re also also getting what could be used as a tool and I for one am from the generation the existed before we had electric books and personally, I prefer physical media and I highly rate this book as a must get if your Clint Eastwood fan and or if you just wanna add a book on Eastwood and his films, I don’t see how you can go wrong with this book. I truly enjoyed it and I cannot recommend it enough. Published by White Lion, Clint Eastwood: The Iconic Filmmaker And His Work was published on August 29, 2023 and is available now at retailers on and off-line and in addition to this written review there is also a video review on my companion YouTube channel that you can watch that is meant to be a part of this written review. So basically if you’re watching the video and you look in the description you’ll see a link to this written review and if you’re reading this written review, you’ll see a link to the YouTube review they should both be seen together; read and or viewed together because collectively they give perhaps the best possible method that I could come up with two truly show and give an idea not only how I felt about the book, but what the book is like itself without giving away all of its secrets. I hope you all enjoy and thank you.
