I saw Evil Dead Rise. My quick non spoiler review is it is a more serious take on the franchise and it doesn’t seem to have any connection to anything that came before it. It was supposed to be a straight to streaming movie and it shows, but with the restructuring it was given a theatrical release. If you have seen any of the previous films then you should know there is nothing here that you had not seen already aside from it’s mostly urban setting, but even then most of the movie is just set in one apartment instead of a cabin. The opening and closing were pointless since none of what happens has anything to do with the main story. Good creepy effects. Okay acting. Better than Evil Dead (2013), but the original Raimi Trilogy with Bruce Campbell is still my personal favorite and this has none of the charm the movies and TV series had.
