CONSEQUENCE OF SOUND AND SONY MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT PRESENT THE OPUS SIXTH SEASON LAUNCHES WITH THE CLASH AND 1979'S LONDON CALLING HOSTED BY ASTRONAUTALIS

December 16, 2019 - Consequence of Sound and Sony Music Entertainment have partnered together for another season of The Opus, a podcast that explores legendary albums and their ongoing legacy. The sixth season has taken it back to 1979 and The Clash's legendary album London Calling. The English rockers opened up all the rock 'n' roll doors their fellow punk colleagues had slammed over the last decade.

Host Andy Bothwell, aka Astronautalis, will be joined by guests throughout the season including Brit Daniel (Spoon), Lee "Scratch" Perry, Laura Jane Grace (Against Me!), Joe Ely, Hamilton Leithauser (The Walkmen), AJJ (fka Andrew Jackson Jihad), Fat Tony (Rapper), Donita Sparks (L7), Yeek (Singer), Lauren Denitzio (Worriers), Chardine Taylor-Stone (drummer for Big Joanie and Civil rights activist), Joseph Patel (filmmaker Vice/MTV Docs), Vance Wallenstein (Head of Design for MOMA PS1) and Dan Reilly (Rolling Stone/Spin/Entertainment Weekly).

Together, they discuss how London Calling didn't need to be punk to prove how punk it was, how it didn't need to be a giant arena record to prove how much it rocked and how it managed to introduce all kinds of culture with zero pretension.

"London Calling is the biggest season of The Opus yet, and that's not an overstatement. Each episode is fueled by a revolving door of guests that not only bring justice to the legendary double album, but shed a new light on it," shares Consequence of Sound's Editor-in-Chief Michael Roffman on this monumental season of The Opus. "Host Andy Bothwell is also thinking outside the box behind the boards to deliver a true audio spectacle each week. Rest assured, diehard fans of The Clash who come in will no doubt walk out in a brand new Cadillac."

Fans can stream the first episode today at https://consequenceofsound.net/2019/12/the-opus-the-clash-episode-one/.

Past seasons of The Opus have explored the ever-evolving legacies of four iconic records: Bob Dylan's Blood on the Tracks, The Jimi Hendrix Experience's Electric Ladyland, Jeff Buckley's Grace, Willie Nelson's Red Headed Stranger and most recently, Ozzy Osbourne's Blizzard of Ozz.

Fans can expect a new album to be explored each month on The Opus. For more information, visit https://consequenceofsound.net/theopus.

A critique on the use of profanity in The Expanse: Season 4.

The Expanse Season 4 has arrived on Amazon Prime without skipping a beat and with what appears to be an even greater production value. My only caveat is the overuse of "fuck" in the episodes. I have learned from experience that when you have characters use language like that just because you can, it actually does nothing to improve the storytelling and feels lazy. Think about how you may use that word or other words like it in your personal life. I don't know anyone who speaks using profanity for no good reason. Now you have this one character who plays the head of the UN and she says the word so many times it not only degrades her character, but it seems unrealistic especially after three previous seasons where she never uttered anything remotely like that. Granted it was on basic cable previously, but what politician would swear so openly in an office that demands an image of dignity, congeniality and respect?

The only time a curse word should be used is either to punctuate a scene and give it additional meaning or to define a character moment. Tarantino and especially David Mamet use profanity in their dialogue so it fits these situations and appears organic. Just because you can say something vulgar doesn't mean you should use it. This is an important lesson for anyone who writes drama or fiction. Write your scene or story out how you would normally and include as many curse words you like. Now read it out loud to yourself. Then remove all the profanity and read it out loud again. If it doesn't feel like the exclusion of those words makes a difference then don't include them.

A Statement Of My Endeavors For The New Decade.

There is a reason why I posted links to my bibliography on both the ISFBD (Internet Speculative Fiction Database) http://www.isfdb.org/cgi-bin/ea.cgi?272613

and that is not to post a feather on my page and say, “See how good I am?” It doesn’t matter how many horns I toot. Ultimately the readers decide. Taking that into consideration, I put this up much like you may find listings on IMDB because I have a third book coming and though I can be positive that it will not be released in 2020, I can state a few things. The book will be full fledge novel and not a novella like my second book. It will be Speculative Fiction or Science Fiction because that is my favorite genre. It will continue with the theme of perception because it fascinates me and it will involve a form of astral projection though I can’t state more about that. Finally while it has no story connection with my previous books, it may be the start of a trilogy depending on the reception, but regardless is being written as a stand alone book too. I won’t have any further information until I get closer to publication date, which is still more than a year from now. So that is all I have for now, but for those of you who may be interested and or curious, I wanted to share this before the holiday. Please note that I will be continuing my work on GenreOnline.net because as someone close reminded me, “It’s what I do.” So thank you all for your support. I could never do this without any of you because contrary to what some may think, whether we know it or not, we all have profound impacts on each other even on subtle levels and that is what enables all of us to continue onward like the navigator on a ship enjoying the journey while getting closer to our destination. Thank you all and Happy Holidays.

Sincerely,

Legendary MGM & Cannon Group President Announces Horror Thriller Films

Legendary Hollywood producer & distributor Yoram Globus, who is the former President of MGM and The Cannon Group, announces securing $50 million in financing with his son Ori Globus to launch the Los Angeles based production and distribution company Rebel Way Entertainment. Their thriller feature TENSION is in production now, written by Scott Milam and will be directed by famed SAW horror franchise director Darren Lynn Bousman, who is currently in post-production of the 2020 "SAW IX" Reboot, starring Chris Rock and Samuel L. Jackson.

Yoram is famous for his use of inventive pre-sales methods in the 1980s that propelled the careers of Jean-Claude Van Damme, Chuck Norris, and many more. He has produced over 350 feature films, grossing billions of dollars in the box office and the home media market. Some of his films, to name a few, include; "Barfly, "Runaway Train," "Cobra," "Bloodsport," "Missing in Action," "Superman IV," "Death Wish," "Cry in the Dark", "Breakin'" and "Ninja." Yoram's financial success took the Cannon Group from a share price of .25 to over $48.00 in five years on the New York Stock Exchange.

TENSION is based on TENSION EXPERIENCE, a live theatre immersive adventure created by Darren Lynn Bousman, Gordon Bijelonic and Clint Sears. TENSION follows a group of four friends participating in an extreme immersive horror experience on Halloween, as what was supposed to be a twisted game of manipulation turns to a horrific night of terror. Rebel Way believes that TENSION will become a brand, in the vein of films like Bousman's SAW series. TENSION is scheduled for Principal Photography in 2020 and currently being cast with major stars.

Additional projects currently under development include THE BOXER, a film based on the novel "The Boxer's Story: Fighting for My Life in the Nazi Camps," a true story written by Nathan Shapow, Bob Harris and Mike Shapow. A true story feature film is also being adapted from "The Shadow of Truth" documentary currently airing on Netflix, written by Ari Pines and Yotam Guendelman. In addition, THE MARK is an empowering feature with a female-led cast that takes place in a juvenile detention center, and is in development alongside features TAROT, VR, and REINCARNATION.

Ori Globus follows in his father's footsteps. He joined The Globus Group in the production and distribution division of the company. Spearheaded Rebel Way Entertainment, Ori put together the company's financing, slate, and headed signing talent
