Celebrate the 10^th anniversary of director Martin Scorsese’s atmospheric thriller SHUTTER ISLAND, arriving for the first time on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray on February 11, 2020 from Paramount Home Entertainment.  Debuting just prior to the film’s original release date (February 19, 2010), the 4K Ultra HD will be available in a Limited Collector’s Edition Steelbook.

Based on the best-selling novel by Dennis Lehane, SHUTTER ISLAND follows U.S. Marshal Teddy Daniels (Leonardo DiCaprio) as he navigates what appears to be a routine investigation that quickly turns sinister.  The film is the fourth of five collaborations (to date) by Scorsese and DiCaprio.  Featuring an all-star cast, including Mark Ruffalo, Ben Kingsley, Max von Syndow, and Michelle Williams, SHUTTER ISLAND “sizzles with so much suspense that it’s hot to the touch” (Peter Travers, Rolling Stone).

The 4K Ultra HD/Blu-ray Combo in a Limited Collector’s Edition Steelbook includes the previously released featurettes “Behind the Shutters” and “Into the Lighthouse” on the Blu-ray.

LOS ANGELES (Nov. 12, 2019) – Robert De Niro – Academy Award®-winning actor, producer and director – has been named the 56th recipient of SAG-AFTRA's highest tribute: the SAG Life Achievement Award for career achievement and humanitarian accomplishment.  De Niro will be presented the performers union's top accolade at the 26th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards,which will be simulcast live on TNT and TBS onSunday, Jan. 19, 2020 at 8 p.m. (ET), 7 p.m. (CT), 6 p.m. (MT) and 5 p.m. (PT). The SAG Life Achievement Award is given annually to an actor who fosters the "finest ideals of the acting profession." Doctor Sleep Theatrical Release Review

Doctor Sleep is the theatrical feature film adaptation of the novel of the same name by Stephen King. While the book served as a sequel to The Shining, the movie is presented as a sequel to the Stanley Kubrick feature film from 1980 and picks up shortly after the events of the original. After this brief prologue which sets up the aftermath and introduces the new villains led by Rose, The Hat (Rebecca Ferguson), we jump more or less to the present and learn that Danny Torrance (Ewan McGregor) has suffered deep psychological and emotional trauma that has lead to him drinking to suppress his shining abilities while trapping the ghosts from the Overlook Hotel that have relentlessly pursued him in the decades since. Danny is also visited by the spirit of Dick Hollerann (Carl Lumbly), who informs him that there is a debt he owes to a child with the same ability as his only far stronger. Just as Dick has mentored him even after the events of the first film, now is the chance for Danny to face his demons head on as he struggles to keep safe a girl from a group of quasi immortal beings that feed upon the shining of children to cheat death. This culminates in a battle at the Overlook Hotel.

 Doctor Sleep is a terrific sequel to The Shining that pays respect to the book it is adopted from while offering a surprisingly potent sequel to Kubrick’s horror masterpiece. The casting is impeccable, the tone is set pitch perfect and the villains are truly horrible and deserve the fate they have coming. Doctor Sleep has already opened abroad a week ago and opens here in the States on Friday, November 8, 2019. Top shelf entertainment. See it on the big screen.
