HBO has renewed the Emmy® and Golden Globe-winning comedy series CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM, starring Larry David, for an eleventh season, it was announced today by Amy Gravitt, Executive Vice President, HBO Programming.
“This past season tapped into the zeitgeist in such an uncomfortably delightful way,” said Gravitt. “Larry is already busy writing, and we can’t wait to see what he has in store.”
Adds Larry David, “Believe me, I’m as upset about this as you are. One day I can only hope that HBO will come to their senses and grant me the cancellation I so richly deserve.”
Originally debuting on HBO in 2001 and presenting 100 episodes to date, CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM stars “Seinfeld” co-creator David as an over-the-top version of himself in an unsparing but tongue-in-cheek depiction of his fictionalized life. The series’ ten-episode tenth season debuted January 19, 2020 and brought back series veterans including Susie Essman (“Broad City”), Jeff Garlin (“The Goldbergs”), Emmy® nominee Cheryl Hines (“Suburgatory”), Richard Lewis (“Anything But Love”), J.B. Smoove (“The Millers”) and Emmy®winner Ted Danson (“The Good Place”).
The comedy series continues to prove how seemingly trivial details of one's day-to-day life – a cold cup of coffee, a stained shirt, a missing toothbrush – can precipitate a chain of misfortune to hilarious effect. To keep the narrative spontaneous, the series is shot without a script and cast members are given scene outlines and improvise lines as they go.
Season eleven credits: CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM is created by Larry David; executive producers, Larry David, Jeff Garlin, Jeff Schaffer, Gavin Polone; co-executive producer, Laura Streicher; consulting producer, Jon Hayman.
Director Liesl Tommy makes her feature film debut with Respect. Tommy is the first Black woman ever nominated for a Tony award for Best Direction of a Play in 2016 for Eclipsed, and is an Associate Artist at the Berkeley Rep and an Artist Trustee with the Sundance Institute's Board of Trustees.

Wilson and Tommy have worked together creatively since the 2009 play The Good Negro written by Wilson, directed by Tommy at The Public Theatre. Wilson was a writer on FX's The Americans which garnered her a Peabody Award as well as Emmy and WGA Award nominations.
Following the rise of Aretha Franklin's career from a child singing in her father's church's choir to her international superstardom, RESPECT is the remarkable true story of the music icon's journey to find her voice.

Chinese director Diao Yinan's much anticipated follow-up to his breakthrough film Black Coal, Thin Ice,THE WILD GOOSE LAKE, is a noir crime thriller about a gangster on the run, wet in the nooks and crannies of densely populated Wuhan in central China.
The elegantly down-and-dirty film follows the desperate attempts of small-time mob boss Zhou Zenong (the charismatic Hu Ge) to stay alive after he mistakenly kills a cop and a dead-or-alive reward is put on his head. Director Yinan proves his action bona fides in a series of stylized set pieces and violent shocks, simultaneously devising a romance between Zhou and a mysterious young woman (Gwei Lun-mei) who's out to either help or betray him.
Jessica Kiang of Variety writes that "Diao Yinan delivers a definitive Chinese crime noir, in which the ravishing style and inventive staging form the substance. Staged and executed with...slick, dark dazzle. Reteaming with cinematographer Dong Jinsong, Diao shows an extraordinarily elastic mastery of form. The Wild Goose Lake is like an organic feature of the Chinese cinematic landscape, as though it pooled onto the screen in all its oily, murky glory, having welled up from deep inside the ground. Suddenly, China feels like the noirest place on Earth." While Nate Jones of Vulture pens "
Have you ever imagined what John Wick would be like if it was set not in an imaginary version of New York, but instead a remote city in China's industrial hinterland? Wonder no more, because here comes Diao Yinan's ultrastylish neo-noir The Wild Goose Lake, which offers some of the most thrillingly original fight scenes you'll see onscreen this year".
