CinéSalon: Jean-Claude Carrière: "Writing the Impossible" at FIAF in June & July!

This June and July, the French Institute Alliance Française (FIAF), New York’s premiere French cultural center, presents a new CinéSalon series featuring some of the most subversive and surreal films of the past 50 years. In Writing the Impossible, works by leading directors—including Buñuel, Malle, and Godard—are united by one common thread: the imaginative French screenwriter Jean-Claude Carrière

Celebrating Carrière’s recent Honorary Oscar and extraordinary career, this retrospective highlights the screenwriter’s singular talent for bringing the impossible to life onscreen. Cinematic enigmas, surreal films, and novels that seem to defy adaptation are subject to Carrière’s strange and playful vision, resulting in some of the most groundbreaking and transgressive films of the past decades.
