When trauma-induced phobias begin to re-emerge in five survivors a year after their horrifying tragedy, they return to the “Fear Clinic,” hoping to find the answers they need to get cured.

Fandor, the leading curated subscription streaming service for true lovers of cinema, announces that Hulu will bring the Criterion Collection to Fandor. The films will roll out progressively, with the first seven launching on November 11th, followed by a new collection of films each week, averaging about 30 films debuting on the service each month.

Each release will have a curated theme, with the first grouping titled “Expeditions,” followed by “Island Life” on November 18th and “Family Troubles” on the 25th and will be available to Fandor members for a limited window of 12 days. The agreement was negotiated between Griffin Gmelich of Hulu and Ted Hope and Jonathan Marlow on behalf of Fandor.

Keeping with the eclectic and wide-ranging Criterion Collection, “Expeditions” will include Zoltán Korda’s controversial Sanders of the River (1935), featuring a performance by Paul Robeson, Charlie Chaplin’s The Gold Rush (1925) and Hiroshi Teshigahara’s classic Woman in the Dunes (1964).

“Island Life” features Ingmar Bergman’s Through a Glass Darkly (1961), Michelangelo Antonioni’s L'avventura (1960), and Stromboli (1950) from Roberto Rossellini, while “Family Troubles” includes John Cassavetes’ landmark US indie A Woman Under the Influence (1974), The Ceremony(1971) from director Nagisa Oshima and Rainer Werner Fassbinder’s Ali: Fear Eats the Soul (1974).

The releases will be available on Fandor commercial-free, launching every Tuesday for their 12 day run. Certain films will debut with extra content, allowing Fandor members to go deeper into the film.

Festival featuring works filmed using drones is the first of its kind

NEW YORK, NY, Nov. 11, 2014 – The First Annual New York City Drone Film Festival (NYCDFF) will be held on Saturday, February 21st, 2015 in New York City. The world's first film festival dedicated exclusively to drone cinema, NYCDFF showcases the most famous viral drone videos alongside original content, offering the only opportunity to see the "best of the best" in drone and unmanned aerial vehicle cinema on the big screen.

NYCDFF supports and celebrates the creative expression of aerial filmmakers from around the world. The Festival will host a screening of short films, curated conversation and an awards ceremony featuring prizes for Most Beautiful Shot, Most Technically Difficult Shot, Most Epic Dronie and more.

Randy Scott Slavin, the director, landscape photographer and aerial cinematographer, founded the Festival with a desire to change the perceptions of drones. "I'm tired of drones being synonymous with questionable legality and FAA regulation,” said Slavin. “The goal of the Festival is to celebrate the art of aerial cinematography."

Among the works being screened are Jos Stiglingh's "Fireworks Filmed with a Drone", Corridor Digital's "Superman with a GoPro" and Weddingman123's "Drone Quadcopter Hits Groom in the Head". These viral sensations have been viewed over 28 million times on YouTube.

The Festival will feature a keynote presentation by rockstar drone lawyer Paul Fraidenburgh, who has gained a national reputation for his representation of clients in the unmanned aircraft systems industry.

The Judges Panel includes Fro Knows Photo’s Jared Polin, director Steve Carr (Paul Blart: Mall Cop, Next Friday) and commercial director Phil Allocco.

NEW YORK – November 11, 2014 – Syfywill celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday weekend with a Helix Black Goo Friday marathon, all-new episodes of the popular series Haven and Z Nation, and a two-day festival of iconic sci-fi films.

 

Syfy will kick off the movie fun on Thanksgiving, Thursday, November 27beginning at 9:30AM (ET/PT) with 2001: A Space Odyssey, followed by Star Trek Nemesis, Space Cowboys, Stargate andPoseidon. 

 

To get fans ready for the return of Helix, Syfy will telecast the entire first season of the hit drama on Friday, November 28 from 6AM-6PM. The Black Goo Friday marathon features cast interviews as well as a never-before-seen sneak peek of Season 2, which premieres Friday, January 16 at 10PM.

 

Haven (7PM), SmackDown (8PM) and Z Nation (10PM) will comprise the Friday primetime schedule.

 

The Saturday, November 29 movie marathon will begin at 10AM, highlighted by classic science fiction flicks ranging fromFifth Element and Terminator 2 to Blade: Trinity.

Synopsis:

In THE EQUALIZER, Denzel Washington plays McCall, a man who believes he has put his mysterious past behind him and dedicated himself to beginning a new, quiet life. But when McCall meets Teri (Chloë Grace Moretz), a young girl under the control of ultra-violent Russian gangsters, he can’t stand idly by, he has to help her. R.E.M. By MTV Premieres In NYC.

LOS ANGELES - Founding members of R.E.M. Michael Stipe and Mike Mills came together last week (November 6) for a private screening of R.E.M. By MTV at the Director's Guild Theatre in New York City. The new feature-length documentary, directed by Alexander Young, draws exclusively on archival footage, tracing the history of R.E.M. and MTV together in real time, making it feel as exciting and immediate as it did when it was happening.

 

R.E.M. By MTV is featured in the upcoming six-DVD collection REMTV, which includes over 14 hours of material including many live shows from throughout the band's storied career and will be available on November 24 at retail outlets for a suggested list price of $99.98.

From the start, their fates were intertwined, with the band releasing its first single in July 1981, just weeks before the network premiered its first music video.
