The first season of Dune Prophecy concludes most of the storylines while still leaving some threats open for a future season. I hope that if there is another season of the show that they will refine the characters more so that they are more interesting and less flat. I also think that some of the music made it feel too much like a television show and not enough like a HBO quality theatrical release that’s just so happens to be serialized on television.
Unfortunately, I cannot reveal any story points at all. However, I can say that in a very general sense of this series if it is truly part of the continuity two films that came before it then Dune Prophecy definitely follows the continuity of the Brian Herbert novels. In addition, one gets to see how a Heighliner folds space from an exterior point of view, which is something we never got to see in the first film. It seemed kind of like a mix between the way a Heighliner would just appear as in the David Lynch version and at the same time the type of wormhole effect, but the far more subtle than what’s used in the TV miniseries version from 2000.
My feeling as a whole is that for first season this show was good but I think it is still finding itself and that’s to be expected because many times television programs take a season or two find themselves and become more refined until they become as what we usually think of them as being in the past.
Dune Prophecy will premiere it’s season finale this Sunday December 22, 2024 on HBO and streaming on MAX.
