The Marvels Digital Copy Review

The Marvels is the next chapter in the continuing Marvel Cinematic Universe and features Brie Larson reprising her role as Captain Marvel, Teyonah Parris as Captain Monica Rambeau and Iman Vellani as Ms. Marvel. The film is a bit confusing because unless you keep up with the television shows on Disney +, you may not be able to follow what is going on and why? Since the Marvel series are very hit and miss with more misses than hits as of late, it makes trying to keep up with everything difficult and no one should have to watch a TV series on a pay streaming channel service in order to enjoy a movie and that aspect combined with characters exchanging places due to some strange business with a Kree leader. Now at this point I don’t know what to make of the Kree. They are kind of a war like, but proud humanoid alien race with mostly blue skin even though some of them look like anyone from planet Earth, which I guess is related to genetic experiments the Kree were involved with long ago as detailed in The Inhumans storyline in Marvel’s Agents of Shield series back when you did not have to subscribe to a streaming service in order to watch a Marvel TV Show. All of this reflects badly in general on The Marvels even if these things don’t connect even indirectly because right now I think what people want is to escape into an adventure, drama or comedy and not be confused by one.

The actress who plays Miss Marvel is the best part of the film because she’s got a lot of charisma and she expresses a sense of genuine wonder when seeing Captain Marvel, and other people related to those, she looks up to.

I think it would make a better TV movie than a theatrical release since then the Disney + audience would have an easier time following the action since they would already be familiar with at least one or two of the characters as well as Captain Marvel from the movies. On the positive side, I do think the movie will do much better on streaming video simply because those who are unfamiliar with the characters, but have access to Disney+ can easily catch up and if they have any questions what better way to get their answers then checking out the older programs on Disney+.

The technology of streaming films in 4K Ultra HD with Dolby Vision has really improved over the years to the point where it is definitely superior to standard Blu-ray and way superior to DVD. So there is absolutely no problem with the picture quality on this video. Dolby ATMOS audio in English, English with Descriptive Audio for the visually impaired, French, and Spanish Language Soundtracks as well as English Subtitles for the Deaf and Hearing Impaired and French and Spanish Subtitles are also encoded as options.

Extra value features on this Movies Anywhere Digital Copy include a featurette detailing the synergy between the three lead actresses in the film and their work behind the scenes on The Marvels (11:00), a Production Diary (5:30) with Iman Vellani on her last day on the set, a blooper real (1:00), four deleted scenes with a Play All Feature (5:00) and a screen specific audio commentary with Director Nia Dacosta and Visual Effects Supervisor Tara DeMarco.
