The Reflecting Skin Blu-ray Disc Review

For the first time in the U.S. on Blu-ray The Reflecting Skin is now available on Blu-ray Disc courtesy of Film Movement Classics. A young boy in 1950s Idaho believes his neighbor is a vampire as friends of his from around the prairie succumb to a mysterious plague. He becomes even more anxious and fear ridden when his brother, (played by Viggo Mortensen in his first starring role), returns home from military service and falls in love with the Widow next door he suspects is at the root of all deaths around him.

Considered a gothic masterpiece and cult film as well, this was the directorial debut of writer and director Philip Ridley, who also provides a screen specific feature length audio commentary for the film. A 44 minute making of documentary and an enclosed booklet with introduction by Philip Ridley are included while the film looks great considering it’s age in a full 1080p HD (1.85:1) widescreen aspect ratio along with an English Stereo Soundtrack.

The Reflecting Skin is available now at retailers on and offline with extra value features possibly varied depending upon the format on Blu-ray Disc, DVD and Digital Copy for various platforms, but all are sold separately, courtesy of Film Movement Classics.
