Easter Bloody Easter Movie Review

Someone paid to actually get this made. Easter Bloody Easter is forgettable. In fact I found every aspect of this movie to be unfunny and dumb save for the killer bunnies with the red glowing eyes. This is like a Full Moon Feature Film from the 1990s, but with no particular interesting character actors or even recognizable genre film stars, which this film desperately needs to give it an air of legitimacy. The only thing worse than an unfunny comedy is an attempt to mix to genres and fail at both. Easter Bloody Easter is neither funny or scary. It is not inept enough or weird enough to make it a cult film. This is not the filmmaker’s fault because it is not how skilled or unskilled you are when making a B movie, it is whether or not you catch lightning in a bottle. You can’t force a Rocky Horror Picture Show to happen or a bad movie like The Room. They either find an audience or not.

Now at the time I am writing this I am feeling a bit guilty because while I hated Easter Bloody Easter, I don’t want to ruin or hurt those who worked hard on  because while it is a low budget camp horror film, there are some nice attempts that show competency behind camera. The sets are nicely lit. The effects, though crude, show some thought. So despite the fact I did not care much for this film, I am still going to recommend it provided you know going in that humor is very subjective and no one involved with making this was out to make the next Gremlins or something. Easter Bloody Easter is a competently made film that is just too good to be bad and not bad enough to be good. You can decide for yourself when Easter Bloody Easter debuts  on streaming platforms on March 26 (just in time for Easter!) from Gravitas Ventures.
