And so it begins... HBO MAX launched today. Disney vs Warner Brothers. The mouse vs Bugs. If Sony joins the fray in a big way then it could truly become WW3 in Streamtopia, but I think the bigger question will be, how will this effect the big three; Netflix, Amazon and Hulu? Hulu is owned by Disney, but will it make a dent when the biggest content like The Handmaid’s Tale remains in Corona limbo like much of the industry. Both Netflix and Amazon benefit from being in the game longer, great original programming and higher profile content. Amazon is in my humble opinion the best deal in town with Prime Music on top of Prime Video and all the other goodies like free two-day shipping too. Honestly Amazon Prime’s movie library alone is second to none. So it should be interesting to see how this works out.
