Afflicted Blu-ray Disc Review

Afflicted is a nice surprise in a market filled with found footage genre films, however technically this is not a found footage film it all. Two lifelong friends embark on a one year trip around the world, which they plan on recording and uploading in regular episodes on YouTube with viewers encouraged to leave comments if there is a place they want the two young travelers to see. Of the two friends, one has a congenital condition where by a cluster of blood vessels could accidentally break and paralyze him if not kill him. Thud this trip has a larger importance to it. After about a week into their European leg of their journey, the friend with the congenital condition meets a woman and takes her back to the room where he is staying only to be discovered by his friend with cuts, scratches and blood on his body. Strange side effects of this transformation begin to occur as their online series becomes a document of one man's metamorphosis into something not human.

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment's Blu-ray Disc edition presents Afflicted in a widescreen aspect ratio of about (1.78:1)  1080p with a good deep English DTS-HD 5..1 Master Audio Soundtrack. A Spanish Language Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Soundtrack is also included along with English Subtitles for the Deaf and Hearing Impaired and English and Spanish Language Subtitles encoded as options too.

Within the Blue BD Case there is an insert containing a limited time only code to redeem a free Ultraviolet HD Digital Copy of the film. The bonus materials on the Blu-ray itself include a behind the scenes short (3:51), a look at how the window jump scene was accomplished (2:30) and one deleted scene as well as two alternate scenes of which one appears to be an alternate ending (7:57). Preview trailers for The Raid 2, Pompeii, A Fighting Man, Deliver Us From Evil, and The Last Exorcism wrap up the materials found on the Blu-ray Disc.

The interactive menus are well rendered and easy to navigate. Afflicted is available at retailers on and offline now courtesy ofSony  Pictures Hone Entertainment.
