SYFY GREENLIGHTS TIME TRAVEL DRAMA 12 MONKEYSTO SERIES WITH 12 EPISODE ORDER

NEW YORK – April 4, 2014 – Syfy is giving a series greenlight to 12 Monkeys, a drama based on the 1995 Universal Pictures film directed by Terry Gilliam, it was announced today by Syfy President, Dave Howe. Syfy is ordering 12 episodes in addition to the pilot which was filmed last year. The series is produced by Universal Cable Productions and Atlas Entertainment, producer of the original theatrical.

 

Said Dave Howe, “‘12 Monkeys’ is a captivating time travel adventure and high stakes race against the clock. We are thrilled to add it to our slate of engaging and thought-provoking new scripted projects including the recently announced event series ‘Ascension’ and the second season renewal of ‘Helix’ from Ron Moore.”   

 

12 Monkeys, starring Aaron Stanford (Nikita, X-Men: The Last Stand, X2), Amanda Schull (Suits, Pretty Little Liars), Noah Bean (Nikita, Damages) and Kirk Acevedo (Fringe), follows the journey of a time traveler (Stanford) from the post-apocalyptic future who appears in present day on a mission to locate and eradicate the source of a deadly plague that will eventually decimate the human race.

 

Atlas Entertainment’s Charles Roven (American Hustle, Man of Steel, The Dark Knight Trilogy) and Richard Suckle (American Hustle, The International), will Executive Produce. Roven produced the original film. Jake Kurily will serve as Atlas’s executive on the series. Terry Matalas & Travis Fickett (Nikita), writers of the pilot, will serve as Co-Executive Producers with Natalie Chaidez (In Plain Sight, V, Heroes) as Executive Producer/Showrunner. Jeffrey Reiner (Friday Night Lights) directed and served as Executive Producer on the pilot.

 

The drama is slated to premiere in January of 2015.

Being Human Series Finale Airs April 7, 2014 On Syfy!

The Making Of A Lady: Original UK Edition Blu-ray Disc Review

Based on the novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett (The Secret Garden), is this lavish British gothic drama with a terrific cast that includes Lydia Wilson as Emily, an educated, but poor Lady's Companion to Lady Maria, who is played stunningly by Absolutely Fabulous Star Joanna Lumley. After accepting a marriage proposal from her employer's nephew (Linus Roache), Emily finds solace in her employer's other nephew, played by James D'Arcy (Hannibal) as well as his wife (Hasina Haque), but soon becomes controlled and isolated after her husband to be rejoins his regiment. 

The Making Of A Lady: Original UK Edition is presented in 1080p full HD in a (1.78:1) widescreen aspect ratio coupled with a rich English Stereo Soundtrack and includes English Subtitles for the Deaf and Hearing Impaired encoded as an option.

The original UK edition of Murder On The Home Front is another example of the fine British drama PBS is known for airing and distributing on home video. Set during the London Blitz in 1940, when criminals take advantage of the blackouts caused by the Luftwaffe bombings, murder is afoot. Patrica Kennedy (Boardwalk Empire) is a pathologist new to murder investigations, but determined to to find the predator come what may. She is assisted by her secretary (Tamzin Merchant) as they struggle to find a serial killer in a male dominated world of criminal investigation.

Murder On The Home Front is presented in a television broadcast aspect ratio of approximately (1.78:1) in 1080i HD with a clear English Stereo Soundtrack and English Subtitles for the Deaf and Hearing Impaired. Bonus cast and crew interviews are included on the Blu-ray too.

The Dead Film Series Continues Its Jaunt Around the World

 

BEVERLY HILLS, CA –– Anchor Bay Films has acquired the rights to the award-winning film The Dead 2: India, the highly-anticipated follow-up to the company’s 2012 release of The Dead.  Written and directed by Howard J. Ford and Jon Ford (Mainline Run, Distant Shadow, The Dead), stars Joseph Millson (Casino Royale, Enid) in this critically-acclaimed epic zombie road movie. The company has acquired the theatrical, home entertainment, digital and VOD rights for the U.S. and Canada.  The announcement was made today by Bill Clark, President of Anchor Bay Entertainment.

 

“We’re thrilled to be releasing the next film in the Ford Brothers’ films,” commented Kevin Kasha, Head of Acquisitions for Starz.  “We had a great experience on the first film and are looking forward to offering audiences another round of The Dead.”

 

Set against the spectacular vistas and stunning scenery of Rajasthan, known as The Land of the Kings and one of the world’s first and oldest civilizations, The Dead 2: India puts the Ford Brothers’ unique apocalyptic vision on a far bigger canvas in terms of breathtaking scope, thrilling action, death-defying stunts, emotional resonance and spine-tingling fright.

A ship docks fresh from Somalia which contains one infected worker that passes unnoticed into the very heart of India’s overpopulated bustling streets, setting off an unstoppable chain of events.  Meanwhile, American turbine engineer Nicholas Burton (Millson) is working in the peaceful stunning Indian countryside when he receives a call from his love, a local girl who lives on the outskirts of the slums of Mumbai.  She reveals she is now pregnant and scared for her life as chaos and terror have taken ahold of the cities as the dead return to life and attack the living.  Nicholas has to battle his way across their 300 mile distance, all of which is ferociously infected.  With the help of a young street kid, he has to rely on his wits and sheer brute force to try and save them all. 

 

Widely regarded as one of the most popular of all the recently made zombie films, The Dead has enjoyed international praise, critical acclaim and success since its initial release a few years ago.  The film was the first horror film entirely filmed in Africa.  It was only fitting that the next stop be another first for the genre; India, where the challenges of filming a horror film are as unique as the dramatic setting. 

 

The Dead 2: India was produced by Latitude Films in association with Road Trip Pictures.  Howard J. Ford serves as producer, Amir Moallemi & Josephine Rose (Wiggin EP) executive produced with Jon Ford as the director of photography.
