This Side of the Impossible, Featuring Clairvoyance, Telekinesis and ESP, Coming to NYC This August

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Winner! “Best of the Fest” – 2014 San Francisco Fringe Festival

Internationally-Renowned Mentalist Sebastian Boswell III

Makes His New York City Debut

THIS SIDE OF THE IMPOSSIBLE

Featuring Amazing Demonstrations of ClairvoyanceTelekinesisExtra Sensory Perception and Strange Physical Feats

Part of the 19th Annual New York International Fringe Festival, A Production of the Present Company

NEW YORK, NY, July 29, 2015 – THIS SIDE OF THE IMPOSSIBLE, a dazzling new show featuring demonstrations of telekinesis, clairvoyance and extra sensory perception by world-renowned mentalist Sebastian Boswell III, will make its New York premiere in the 2015 New York International Fringe Festival.

THIS SIDE OF THE IMPOSSIBLE is a performance of mental mysteries and physical wonders as practiced by mystics and fakirs throughout history and demonstrated by Sebastian Boswell III, who emphatically insists he is not a magician, but possesses his extraordinary powers as a result of a lifetime of travel and study. Each show, which features amazing demonstrations of ESP, clairvoyance, telekinesis and strange physical feats, will entertain, enlighten and leave audiences amazed at the potential of all human beings.

About The Show

THIS SIDE OF THE IMPOSSIBLE was awarded "Best of the Fringe" at the 2014 San Francisco International Fringe Festival. The show was created over the course of four years, from 2010 through 2014, when Sebastian was performing every Saturday night to sold-out shows at the Hotel Rex in San Francisco.

Who Is Sebastian Boswell III?

"To make the claims I do I am either telling the truth, lying or insane,” says Sebastian. “And I assure you I am not lying."

Sebastian is widely considered to be one of the most distinctive performers in the field of mentalism and the demonstration of seemingly physical impossibilities. As an international performer, his career spans the distance from the theaters of Helsinki, Finland to the music stages of Norman, Oklahoma, and nearly everywhere in between.

It is not clear how long Sebastian has been performing professionally. It is at least 20 years, and some say he has been performing for decades, perhaps longer. He claims to have been peers with Houdini, of whom Sebastian holds a low opinion. Sebastian also claims to have been present when Salvador Dali and Luis Bunuel created the surrealist film The Andalusian Dog.

What is clear is that the accumulated knowledge and skill he demonstrates amazes his audiences and often leaves them feeling like they have witnessed the defining moment of their lives.

I am in need of a sponsor for the Clarion Write-a-Thon, which ends August 1, 2015.

Have you ever wondered what would have happened if your favorite Filmmaker, Author, Writer or Comic Book genius like Stan Lee never received the sponsorship and support to develop his craft and deliver us the many characters and inspirations we all love and have? The world would be a sadder place. I am trying to raise money for charity for the next year's generation of science fiction and fantasy writers to attend the renowned Clarion Writer's Workshop in Seattle.

I really need a sponsor in order to make my participation in this charity mean something. I have written beyond my goal of thirty pages to fifty pages. Please click on the link below and find Mark Rivera among the writers participating here. Please, there are three days left. Whoever sponsors me and donates any amount on my page will receive a free signed hard copy of my first novel The Final Arbiter and when it is published, a free signed copy of my next book too. Please click on the link below and search for Mark Rivera among the writers and click on my profile and sponsor and donate to this scholarship fund for the next generation of science fiction and fantasy authors. The deadline is August 1, 2015. Thank you.

SYFY AND UCP BRING GRINDHOUSE GENRE TO TV WITH NEW SCRIPTED SERIES ‘BLOOD DRIVE’

SYFY AND UNIVERSAL CABLE PRODUCTIONS BRING THE GRINDHOUSE GENRE TO TELEVISION WITH NEW 13-EPISODE SCRIPTED SERIES BLOOD DRIVE

JOHN HLAVIN WILL EXECUTIVE PRODUCE ALONG WITH DAVID STRAITON, WHO WILL ALSO DIRECT

NEW YORK – July 28, 2015 – Syfy and Universal Cable Productions today announced they have greenlit Blood Drive, a high-octane, over-the-top scripted series in the classic grindhouse movie tradition. Set in a near-apocalyptic future, the 13-episode series centers around LA’s last good cop who is forced to join a twisted, gory cross-country death race -- with cars powered by blood and a dangerous femme fatale partner who sees people as fuel.

Blood Drive is from executive producers John Hlavin (Underworld: Awakening, The Shield) and David Straiton (Bates Motel, Hemlock Grove), who will also direct.

James Roland wrote the pilot under Hlavin’s supervision and will also serve as supervising producer. Fredrik Malmberg (Conan the Barbarian) and Mark Wheeler will serve as producers. Universal Cable Productions will be the studio.

Said Dave Howe, President, Syfy & Chiller:  “This highly stylized roller coaster ride is a throwback to 1970s grindhouse cinema. With its fast-paced thrills and indie feel, Blood Drive will make an exciting and edgy addition to Syfy’s growing slate of original scripted series.”

“The grindhouse cinema style remains largely untapped in television. The combination of gritty action and dark humor can push the envelope in some fun and unexpected ways,” said Jeff Wachtel, Chief Content Officer, NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment and President, Universal Cable Productions. “Blood Drive has all these elements and more. We’re excited to partner with John Hlavin and David Straiton to bring this cool, action-packed series to life.”

New Criterion Picks: 1966 Was a Good Year

This collection of stellar films, many of which consistently appear on critics' top 100 lists, have more in common than just their release date: the revolutionary rumblings and political awakenings that characterized these times gave auteurs permission to flaunt conventions of form and narrative.

Masculin féminin (1966)
dir. Jean-Luc Godard

The heroes of this spirited drama are "the children of Marx and Coca-Cola": French youths trying their hand at style, sophistication and modern romance.

Persona (1966)
dir. Ingmar Bergman

Bibi Andersson and Liv Ullmann turn incredible performances as the mysteriously intertwined stars of Bergman's intense, intimate psychological thriller.

Au hasard Balthazar (1966)
dir. Robert Bresson

There is, simply, no heart hard enough to withstand Bresson's masterfully handled, painfully evocative, devastatingly beautiful, tragic allegorical power.

Daisies (1966)
dir. Vera Chytilová

Two girls named Marie are fed up and decide to "go bad", and the result is a smart, cheeky and chaotic tear through societal (and cinematic) conventions.

Violence at Noon (1966)
dir. Nagisa Ôshima

Based on heinous true events concerning a serial rapist and murderer, this highly controversial and stylized tour-de-force contains over a thousand cuts.

The Battle of Algiers (1966)
dir. Gillo Pontecorvo

Raising the colonial consciousness of the Western world, Pontecorvo's historical re-enactment of Algerian insurgency remains relevant in our times.

Closely Watched Trains (1966)
dir. Jiří Menzel

With a quiet wryness that has come to characterize the Czech New Wave, this small gem of a film is a warm tale of coming of age during times of conflict.

Wings (1966)
dir. Larisa Shepitko

Shepitko's richly drawn character study of a former fighter pilot struggling with the tedium of a new life and career, her first feature as a film school grad.

Chafed Elbows (1966)
dir. Robert Downey Sr.

An ultra-low-budget manic madcap comedy, told almost entirely through still images and voiceover, that is both endlessly entertaining and gleefully foul.

Law of the Border (1966)
dir. Ömer Lütfi Akad

A man agrees to smuggle a herd of sheep across the border to help his ailing son, but why has he been pushed to a life of crime in the first place?
